Orbit SpatialOur story

For years, brilliant work kept getting boxed in.

A spatial mix would sound extraordinary in the room, then come apart the moment it left — folded down to headphones, moved to another speaker layout, played in someone else’s setup. After weeks of work, you were left guessing.

Ben Weatherill, Assistant Professor in Spatial and Game Audio, kept watching it happen to his students. He wanted to hand them something better: a tool that just let you hear what you’d made, on your own terms, and actually trust it. When he couldn’t find one, he built it. That became Orbit.

“Orbit began as the tool I wished I could give my students — and everything since has been an extension of that.”

What Orbit has built

Founded in December 2025. It has moved fast.

Orbit — ADM quality-control app showing beds, objects, live meters and a 3D scene
February 2026

Orbit

The first app — full ADM quality control for immersive masters. Every channel, bed and object, live metering, a 3D scene, and a binaural engine with clear spatialisation. The tool for hearing exactly what you’ve made — and knowing it’s right. Apple Spatial Audio integration followed a few weeks later.

Orbit Lite — streamlined spatial playback
March 2026

Orbit Lite

The same engine, stripped right back to playback — for anyone finding their feet in spatial, or who just needs a clean way to play back spatial audio files, at a price that makes sense.

Orbit Pro — flagship app with IAMF export, timeline and 3D scene
June 2026

Orbit Pro

The new flagship. Full ADM support — from Atmos masters to EBU ADM — with IAMF (Google Eclipsa) import and export through a real interface, not a command line. A powerful feature set, right down to video editing.

Every one of them runs on the same renderer, built in-house. That was always the point.

The furthest the idea has been pushed

And then there’s Esfera.

Esfera is IAMF, playing in the browser. Atmos masters convert to IAMF on the way in; ADM masters can be shared privately, for review. Either way it streams the real thing — up to 118 channels of uncompressed PCM, bandwidth permitting, straight from the original files. Never compressed stand-ins.

Spatial audio, out in the open.

Where the tools are today

One engine. A whole family of tools.

Under a year in — from a browser tab to a full QC suite, every one of them runs on the same renderer, built in-house.
